Digital Shoreditch festival transforms East London into a digital playground.

The countdown has begun to Digital Shoreditch – a festival which will turn East London into a digital playground.

Trendy Shoreditch is establishing itself as a hotbed for talent in the creative industries, from television production to gaming. The Digital Shoreditch festival will celebrate all of this creativity during a five-day jamboree in May.

There will be late-night parties, eye-catching displays such lighting up buildings, real-world interactive installations, and augmented reality games. Businesses will get the chance to exhibit their work, a 3D film festival will highlight new talent, and a networking event will allow digital entrepreneurs to swap notes.

The aim is to celebrate the creative diversity and talent thriving within London’s Silicon Valley-like society, and put Shoreditch on the map as the UK’s digital hub. Emily Memarzia, at PlayGen and co-founder of the festival explained: ‘We wanted to provide a platform and a voice for any talent within this space- regardless of whether they are a luminary or a start-up. Our approach is deliberately organic and community oriented. Individuals from all walks of life can connect, entertain and exchange ideas, and contribute to this wonderfully creative society. ’

Many of the events will be free, and anyone is invited to add their event to the calendar at no cost. All participants are promoted as an official Digital Shoreditch supporter, and can benefit from national media exposure and the forward-thinking ethos of the festival.

The activity takes place in vibrant Shoreditch and Brick Lane on the 4th-8th May, 2011. Home to the largest concentration of creatives in Europe, and over 300 digital studios and agencies, Shoreditch provides an exciting place for industry to showcase, and the public to experiment with the latest in digital innovation.
